What is USD Coin?

USDC runs natively on many blockchains, including Ethereum and Solana. Circle publishes monthly reserve reports, and most reserves are held in a fund managed by BlackRock.

In March 2023 USDC briefly fell to about $0.87 after Circle disclosed $3.3 billion of reserves at the failed Silicon Valley Bank; it recovered once US authorities guaranteed that bank’s deposits.
