Security incidents (Ledger)
Company-level events that affected customers of this brand, newest first.
- Ledger's Connect Kit JavaScript library (used by dApps, not the devices) was hijacked in a supply-chain attack for a few hours; users who signed malicious transactions on affected sites lost funds.
- Ledger announced Ledger Recover, an opt-in paid service that backs up encrypted shares of your recovery phrase with third parties. It showed that firmware can export key material if you consent, which many users criticised.
- Ledger's e-commerce and marketing database was breached; names, postal addresses and phone numbers of about 272,000 customers (and about 1M email addresses) leaked, fuelling years of phishing. Devices and funds were not compromised.
